Exploration

Exploration is a key part of the Shattered Realms: Mortal Tale experience, with many special hidden areas tucked away throughout the overworld.
  • Jump your way over cliffs and across streams to brand new areas and treasure!
  • Sprint with abandon in the wilds, just don't run into trees! Or monsters...
  • A handy journal that records your story progress so if you forget, you have a general handle on your situation.
  • Resource nodes for Alchemy that can be revealed by wearing Herbalist Goggles, encouraging you to check for specific areas to find your ingredients!
  • Use the Markstone to return to a safepoint, and access distant towns, saving you some legwork!
  • Vast regions to explore, each with their own monsters and secrets to discover!

Battles

Throughout your journey, you will encounter many strong, deadly enemies. You'll need to prepare...
  • Death Curse Mechanic - Traverse the world with caution, you only have so much time left. Delay the power of the curse by slaying monsters and resetting your timer to full. You'll wither away otherwise.
  • Collect Souls - Enemies have a chance to drop Soul Spheres, what would be potions to other games. You can't buy these, which means you will have to conserve resources carefully.
  • Gather Allies - Various people will join you on your journey, but be sure not to do something that will anger them...

The World

You'll encounter many people, monsters, and civilizations on your journey. How you interact them will dramatically change the outcome you experience.
  • Multiple stories will fluctuate and alter themselves based on your actions. Your actions matter in big ways.
  • Character Reputation - A number of characters will react to various events caused by you, or your actions directly. The bonds between you and your allies may make all the difference...
  • Special Timed Events - Certain occurrences take place in the world that only happen at certain times. This can be a local village festival, the opening of hidden caves, or even the changing of the moon's light...
  • Monster Clans can be nuisances, but violence doesn't always have to be the answer. You can always attempt to speak with their leaders... ...if they're sentient enough to understand what diplomacy is.
