Hello everyone! The game is well underway and we expect to see it ready for playtesting within the week. That means it's time for the Private Playtest, where we have a select group of people playtest the game and give us feedback before launch of the new update! We need to have some player feedback to help us in the right direction as we close this portion of development and begin to slowly phase in work on the next major update, the Post Content Release for Chapter 2. There's a huge, huge amount of content still to come, and we're very excited to share this update with you, even as we look to the future. If you'd like to help us test the game, you can apply with the Private Playtest Register. If approved, we will send you a reply at the earliest convenience. We will send an email out to all applicants with a GameJolt/Itch.io key for the Private Playtest once we have finished preparing the game for private playtest.
NOTE: This trailer only promotes the intended release date range. Version 0.6 will not be live before the stated release date.
This update focuses on the raw storyline and not polish. As such, enemies will not be in their finalized appearances. We wanted to make this a key point of the update, but we don't think there will be enough time for it. A good number of polish items, such as monster design improvements and cutscene polish will be done in a patch update in between this current update and the Post Chapter update, which will add a huge slew of bonus stories and areas to explore beyond the current Chapter 2 map. 2017 was a year of great change, and the opening of possibilities for me and many others. From my first job, to beginning a full move toward a commercial project, to the evolution of my art style to new levels, a lot has happened.
The game underwent a great amount of progress and change throughout 2017, and it was the year it began to truly pick up steam. For a time, we worked on Doragon Konpaku and made great strides in artistic quality, only to suffer setbacks. The comic has been left behind many times in favor of the games, and it's disheartening as an artist to be unable to focus on everything you love dearly. We went from a single developer with wishful thinking to a four man project, and the future is looking bright as the second chapter of the game continues to gather steam and make progress. We're glad to have come so far, and we are looking forward to the new horizons we will travel across in 2018. Here's our roadmap for the year:
Thanks to everyone for your support over the course of the last year! Here's to 2018! After a long time waiting for this announcement, please welcome our official soundtrack designer for Shattered Realms: Mortal Tale, Eric Matyas.Eric Matyas is a freelance musician who operates his website, Soundimage.org, a free library of countless upon countless songs, sound effects, and even textures. Ranging from fantasy to outright horror, he has a wide berth of styles to experiment with, and we are eager to work with him on the soundtrack. The very first song on the OST created is Ancient Hills, one of the favorites of Chapter 1, at least for me.
Please consider donating to Soundimage.org in support of his project! Chapter 2 is developing at a slow, steady pace, and current estimates predict a potential release toward December - May. This will be the first of many builds of the game's final chapter until our launch, the amount of content that will be provided in the Chapter 2 final build will be substantial, hence the decision to tier the content to allow access as soon as possible while providing quality content.
The first build, version 0.6.0, the Basic Release, will grant access to the full Chapter 2 storyline and all variant paths available in that route, while adding some baseline post content. To all of those who follow this website and wish it was active, fear not, it is alive and will be alive for a good while. The site has been refurbished and is ready to go at a basic level, but a lot more work has to be done. Our writing projects and previously miscellaneous projects are now hosted under the same roof, 'DracoWrym Media', and it is here we will continue our commitment to high quality story telling. I have no real news as to the novels and what will happen with them at this time, that is to be seen at a later date. (I do have ideas fear not).
Much more is to be done, but I hope to see you all with further updates relatively soon. Dear lord I have a bad habit of not updating! Let's try and fix that now!
Ok, so I have some good news peeps! Dragon Tide Chronicles Dawn Rising's first revised chapter is finally out, so go ahead and check that out in the links below! http://www.booksie.com/fantasy/novel/dracowyrm/dragon-tide-chronicles:-dawn-rising-edited/chapter/1 http://www.wattpad.com/37073201-dragon-tide-chronicles-dawn-rising-edited And now I want to clarify why I've been absent from updating... I forgot. Really, that's largely it. Between college and my many projects I've been running, it's kinda been hard to find time to write. I'm certainly going to try to be active once again, but it all just depends on how soon I can get more stuff written. I am very sorry for those of you who've been following with disappointment, but I'm back and hopefully back to stay. Tell me what you think of the reboot of the novel! It's been a while, hasn't it?I'd imagine so. Man it's been a good while indeed. I've spent a lot of time away from writing for a multitude of reasons. The major one is that I've been caught up in college, I haven't had time to write lately. I finally have a big break from it, and about a minute after publishing this post, I intend to start writing a new EX0L8 Retribution chapter. So now the other question is of course... where's Dragon Tide Chronicles? It's going inactive for the moment. I've decided to actually focus on the publishing process and try and get the damn novel started on its way to finding a home in stores sometime next year. I doubt that's how long it will take to rewrite, probably a lot longer. So for the moment, I'm only doing EX0L8 updates right now. But don't worry, there's more stuff I'm working on. Some are stories like you're used to, but there's others. What am I talking about? What is he talking about?!I'm talking about the other half of my projects I am working on the Internet. It's called Axis of Destruction, and it's oriented towards non conventional methods of telling a story. For instance, I'm working on a multitude of video game stories and producing one at this time. I'm also making a comic called Doragon Konpaku.
You can check all of these other projects out at www.axisofdestruction.weebly.com. Now that I'm done self advertising/promoting my other stuff, for those of you who are curious, I'm planning to take a English major. (No surprises there). I promise I haven't forgotten anyone, I've just been... busy as all hell. Until next time, DracoWyrm out! |
